Salam & hello to all my dearest reader, just finished up my homework given by En. Ismail. This is the question “The end in mind for enrolling in crisis management module as to how you apply the knowledge learns during the 10 years of contract with Ministry of Defense.” Then i come up with this.

As far as I concern, study this subject is not only for having a good grade or just fulfill the least requirement by the university. For me, crisis management module will help me in the future in order to face any crucial situation and so on wisely. By referring to past historical story, people experiences, case studies, books, journals and etc. I can conclude that learn the crisis management is like you learn the art in drawing. Its too subjective, abstract and all of it are based on our passion, curiosity, thinking creativity in certain situations. So that is no wrong or right but which decision that being made is the best one, that’s tough part. As you know, I will be the military officer in the next 5-6 months.

Being an officer is not only wearing an epaulette and gives the order to your subordinates. First thing first, I need to identify who am I and what is my main responsibilities toward to reach the organization goals. Yes, I need to be a good leader. Great leader is not only good in giving a command but in other way the art we commanding our man, how we approach them and so on. Ok, lets talk more specifically and focusing to our main topic which is crisis. Managing people in military is quite different compare to civilian styles because in military administration we already have a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), all you need to do is just follow the system and make sure your subordinates finish it up.

But in some cases, such as to give an ad-hoc decision making which is the process that being made are very critical and will give the big impact to the organization. So this is how we use our creativity from what we have learnt. As a thinking officer, we don’t just follow like buffalo right? Why not we put our natural egoistic and seniority aside and proceed the critical situation in intellectual way which is resulted the best decision, perhaps. Sometimes we will have 3 seconds decision making process and what so ever, so how do I manage this?

For me, I think the best way is by read more books, study the recent current issues, revise the case study, discuss and share anything about crisis management with your friends. More effort will produce the greatest thinker. So during the 10 years contract with Ministry of Defence, applying any crisis management module that I learnt is part of improving and increasing the efficiency in armed forces administration. Thanks.
