Montreal weather forecast features a snowy Friday – rush hour could be messy AF

While the spring weather in 2022 is improving, that is certainly not the case today as Montreal experiences more snowfall. Following erratic weather in Montreal over the past two weeks, including fog and freezing rain, Montreal can expect up to 10 centimeters of snow today.

Environment Canada has issued a snow alert for Montreal, as well as for the region of Châteauguay-La Prairie, Laval and Longueuil. It will start snowing in the morning and will likely continue throughout the day.

We can blame the US for this one (sort of). All of southern Quebec is currently affected by a low pressure system over the central United States, causing snowfall. This will combine with the winds coming from the northeast, so visibility will be poor on the roads – thank goodness so many of us are working from home, right?

But seriously, try to avoid rush hour traffic today. In its weather alert, the Government of Canada recommends that you “consider changing your travel plans”.

Even if you avoid traffic today, the school run may still be unavoidable. School boards in the area did not declare a snow day, despite what we are sure some children were hoping for.

Montreal can expect a cold of -12°C this morning, with temperatures dropping to -15°C at night. The average high temperature for February 25 is -2.7°C and the average low temperature is -11.6°C — so it’s cold today.

Although snowfall is typical for the month of February, it’s safe to say that we’re all a bit fed up with it. Stay safe there Montreal!
