Pink speaks out on ‘irrelevant’ new protest anthem

Pink has released her new song “Irrelevant”, a protest anthem that sees the singer urging her fans to fight for their rights. Proceeds from the song will be donated to When We All Vote, the national, nonpartisan voting initiative created by Michelle Obama.

The song was written by Pink with songwriter and producer Ian Fitchuk, marking their first collaboration.

“As a woman with an opinion and the fearlessness to voice that opinion, it becomes very tiring when the only retort is telling me how irrelevant I am,” Pink said in a statement. “I am relevant because I exist and because I am a human being. No one is off topic. And no one can take my voice away from me.

The song came about after the singer faced backlash on social media. for speaking out against the Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn Roe V. Wade. Never one to bite her tongue, Pink used criticism to write the short story.

“Woke up. Got warmed up. Song written. Soon,” Pink tweeted alongside what appeared to be handwritten lyrics for a new track called “Irrelevant.”
