Pokémon GO November 2021 Mega Raids Include Three Features

Niantic announced its Mega Raid offerings in Pokémon GO for the month of November 2021. This time around we won’t have any new Megas, but we will see a triple functionality unfold over the course of the month. Let’s get into the details.

More on the official Pokémon GO Blog, Niantic has announced the following Mega Raid content for November 2021:

  • Mega Absol: Already live as part of the Halloween 2021 Part Two event, Mega Absol will be available until Friday, November 5, 2021.
  • Mega Electrical: From Friday November 5, 2021 to Tuesday November 16, 2021.
  • Mega Lopunny: From Tuesday November 16, 2021 to Wednesday December 1, 2021.

Niantic notes that all raid rotations start and end at 10 a.m. local time on the dates listed. This has been a consistent aspect of not only the raid rotations, but recent events as well. It looks like Niantic is trying to do Pokémon GOThe schedule is a little lighter, which is appreciated. (I’ll say, however, that I criticized them for not starting this year’s Halloween event at night and I’m sticking with that. Stick to a theme when it works!)

This brings us to the end of the Mega Raid offers during the season of mischief. This means that throughout the season we have only received one new Mega: Mega Absol. It looks like Niantic is slowing down its Mega Raid releases significantly from 2020 and even earlier this year, when it looked like we were getting one a month for a while. There could be several reasons at play here. I think Mega Raids are underperforming and are probably generating a lot less revenue than expected, given that they’ve shaken the game up considerably. The community as a whole seems less interested in Mega Raids each month, with the focus remaining largely on level five raids. In addition, Niantic probably wants to extend their content. Just as we’ve seen fewer versions of Shiny in Pokémon GO, we’re seeing Megas roll out over a longer period of time.

My bet? I bet we’ll see another Ice-type Mega Evolution come out in Pokémon GO during the winter season: Mega Glalie.
