Slipknot shares new song ‘Yen’

Slipknot gave us another taste of their highly anticipated album The end so far with the new single “Yen”.

Unlike previously released tracks “The Chapeltown Rag” and “The Dying Song (Time to Sing),” “Yen” takes things in a softer direction. It’s a heavy “Killpop”-like ballad that opens with a slow instrument that leads into a melodic verse, but don’t let that fool you. Once the hook hits, the song goes strong with guttural screams, thunderous drums, roars and riffs.

Considering the previous singles, it’s a bit unexpected for the band, but a good surprise. Not only does this show their wide range, but it also shows that after 23 years since their debut album, the band still know how to keep us on our toes.

Listen to the song below.

The self-produced album, The end so far releases September 30. Pre-orders available here.

Slipknot will begin their third leg of their Knotfest Roadshow this fall. They will be joined by special guests Ice Nine Kills and Crown the Empire. The fall run will also include festival appearances at Louder than Life and Aftershock. The band are currently touring festivals in Europe, including their own Knotfest dates in Germany and Finland.
