The Offspring shares a new video for “Behind Your Walls”

The animated video, directed and animated by Jeb Hardwick, shows a couple trying to navigate a post-apocalyptic landscape filled with seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

“The song evoked the feeling of a couple trying to connect through emotional barriers that had been built up over time,” says Hardwick. “I wanted to take that prompt and turn it into a dark fairy tale, a kind of dystopian take on the classic storytelling structure of writers like the Brothers Grimm. I wanted the video to have an ambiguous dreamlike aesthetic, so I wanted to take away some of the sharpness and sharpness usually associated with CGI and make it feel like it’s somewhere between a moving painting and an expressionist film 1920s German.”

Guitarist Kevin “Noodles” Wasserman added, “’Behind Your Walls’ is about trying to reach someone who is feeling isolated, lonely or depressed. How to reach and cross the emotional chasm that exists? Sometimes it seems impossible to grab that person and bring them back to “safety,” emotionally and mentally. The song is about this struggle.
